Greg
Alario
Greg is the founder of Optimal
Performance Fitness and has been training, coaching and
consulting competitive athletes, fitness clients and martial
artist for the past 25 years. A life long physical
culturist/martial artist, and former college and professional
athlete he is in high demand as a performance coach, writer and
speaker in the wellness, athletic and fitness fields. Countless
individuals and athletes have used his performance enhancing
approach to fitness and inspirational, dynamic energy to guide
and support them in attaining their goals and creating a
passion for reaching for their physical
potential.
Greg has worked with athletes
and fitness enthusiasts of all ages and abilities. Whether
working with professional athletes, CEO's, senior citizens or
film stars the objective is to design a personalized,
integrated, fitness and diet plans based specifically on that
client's or group's ability and short term goal while enhancing
their long term wellness foundation.
Greg was a physical education major at San Jose State
University. He is certified by the International Sports
Sciences Association (ISSA), Professional Golf Fitness
Association (PGFA), National Strength and Conditioning
Association (NSCA), holds a national "C" license from the
United States Soccer Federation (USSF), is a USA Weightlifting
(USAW) certified Sports Performance Coach, and a Level 1 Track
and Field Coach with USA Track & Field.
Greg has been a competitive athlete since grade school. In High
school he lettered in three sports and was an all-state running
back in football. While in high school he began his life long
martial arts training with Black Belt Hall Of Fame inductee,
Ernie Reyes Sr. in Tae Kwon Do in which he earned a black belt.
Greg played college football before committing his competitive
energy full time to kickboxing. He started his career under the
tutelage of the legendary Benny "The Jet" Urquidez, and fought
for 10 years out of Los Angeles, New Orleans and Tampa Florida
, retiring with a professional record of 18-1 with 17
knockouts.
Optimal Performance Fitness started in 1997 in San Diego ,
California with two specific services. One was to provide for
private clients and small groups variety training with a
functional approach to fitness for those tired of the health
club atmosphere as well desiring more athleticism. The other
was to provide off season programs for athletes needing to
recovery and rebalance from the previous season, prepare for
the upcoming season and improve their future performance
ability. Optimal Performance Fitness has designed and
implemented programs for professional, college, high school and
youth soccer teams and players including members of the San
Diego Flash, 1992 & 93 USL-A League champions, and the
nationally ranked MSU-Billings Women's soccer
team.
